AMBER ale

Named in honour of a boozy feral pig who started a fight with a cow. Our custom-made ale for Pig & Duke is an easy drinker with some real character.

 

Never mind the huge spiders and millions of other things that can kill a human in a heartbeat down under. In 2014 we learnt about a pig who stole 18 beers from a campsite in Western Australia, drank them all, then picked a fight with an innocent cow.

 

Campers in Port Hedland woke up in the middle of the night to the sound of cans crunching. They shone a light on the pig who was happily finishing up his 18th stolen beer. The drunk pig then took off and raided other campsites. Later he was spotted attacking a cow who chased him around a car. To cool off, he decided to go for a swim in a river before passing out under a tree on the shore.

 

Authorities were trying to find the Swine for a month after the incident and eventually located him after he was killed by a car on a nearby road. He was identified by distinctive marks on the back of his ears. It is not clear if Swino was under the influence at the time of the accident.

Cowkilla, an amber ale with russet hue and a hop-forward aroma. This brew embodies the essence of freshly baked rye bread crust generously coated in a marmalade. The delightful interplay of blood orange peel and spiciness lingers on the palate, while a touch of roasted cranberries creating a memorable aftertaste. Despite its bold flavors, this amber ale maintains a light-bodied character that pairs well with a steak, preferably a tomahawk, and a butter pecan tart for dessert.
